Using Color and Placement to make differant quilt blocks

Traditonal piecing method The Cut Down Method uses "Blocks"
Cut out triangles and a square Make "Blocks" and join them together
Sew the triangles and square Turn the half square blocks to get a new look

There are no layouts for these quilt blocks but if you can see the "blocks"in the quilt block above you should be able to see the half square blocks and simple squares and how they are placed.
You can experiment with color and turning the blocks in differant ways. If you don't have a quilt software program just make some blocks and lay them out and see what they look like if you turn them one way or another. The possibilities are endless. Change the type of block you are using and see what you get. Have fun!

Size of template for a project
1 1/4" template -- Checkbook Cover or Eyeglass Case or Coin Purse
1 1/2" template -- 8 1/2" hot pad ( 6 1/2" unfinished top plus border)
2 1/2" template -- 8 1/2" unfinished quilt block
3" template -- 10 1/2" unfinished quilt block
